317-888 Intro to Maya - Three-Dimensional Modeling

The objective of the course is to develop proficiency at creating models using 3D modeling software.
The class will consist of three major assignments, in class demonstrations, and lectures.

Absences

 

Sign class roll every week when arriving.
First absence – You will receive an e-mail.
Second absence – you will receive and e-mail and a call from Lee.
On your third absence you will receive an F in the class.
If you wish to drop the class you will receive a drop/fail.
TWO TARDIES OF 30 MINUTES OR MORE EQUALS ONE ABSENCE.

Grading

  - All assignments are due at the beginning of class.
- Late assignments will be awarded a Zero.

Grades will be assigned according to the following scale:

 

•  Creativity
•  Technical Ability
•  Accuracy
•  Elements of Art (Color, balance, shape, texture)
•  Final render or Image sequence (Visual Impact)

Each project will count as %30 of your final grade.

Additionally quizzes, class participation and attendance shall account for remaining %10 of your final grade.

Backup Data Policy
Students are REQUIRED to backup data onto external media.

  •  Backup after every work session
•  Over the Semester use several disks and store in different locations
•  Store in climate controlled location
•  Clearly Date and label media
•  Distinguish working files from finished files

All assignments shall be delivered on a cd-r, along with the source files used to create the final image. All sketches and preliminary work is required to be turned in as well in a small pocket folder (simple pocket folders, no binders or hard plastic holders.)

All students enrolled at the University shall follow the tenets of common decency and acceptable behavior conducive to a positive learning environment.
